Community Development Worker for Race Equality in Mental Health
04/11/2009
My name is Sabrina Robinson I am the new Community Development Worker for Race Equality in Mental Health for Herts Mind Network (HMN).
My role as HMN’s Community Development Worker for Race Equality in Mental Health is to work with people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. Improving their experience of accessing mental health services by tackling race inequalities in mental health and giving them support, which will promote their positive wellbeing. Also, by working with health professionals and giving them feedback this will hopefully enhance their skills and confidence in the provision of these services.
I will be working to support existing groups within BME communities, setting up groups which will be community led and also part of HMN’s programme of education and leisure groups. Also, educating statutory services and other organisations about the issues faced by those within BME communities regarding mental health and promoting volunteering for Herts Mind Network among BME communities.
