Making a difference
Voluntary work is taking off as people search for more fulfilling and meaningful ways of using their time. Contributing your skills and experience to your local community by helping people in distress can be hugely rewarding.

What you can do to help

Volunteers have an important and valuable role within Herts Mind Network, assisting with the provision of services wherever possible. We are fully committed to supporting our volunteers and offering as many opportunities as we can.

Herts Mind Network operates an equal opportunities policy, which is adhered to both with employed and volunteer staff, and when providing services.

What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer? Herts Mind Network believes there are many benefits, including: meeting people and making new friends, making use of existing skills and learning new ones, being valued, appreciated and feeling useful, gaining further experience and knowledge. We ask volunteers to commit to at least 6 months for between 2-3 hours a week.

Possible Opportunities for Volunteers:

  • Peer Mentoring one-to-one support
  • Volunteering within peer support groups, education and leisure courses
  • Volunteer Office Administration
  • Volunteer Driving
  • Fundraising

What we offer you

  • Initial Induction Training (10-12 hours)
  • Quarterly training delivered by experienced and qualified tutors
  • Ongoing one-to-one and peer support

We value diversity and encourage applications from volunteers who have a wide range of life experiences and from all ages and backgrounds.  We welcome volunteers who can bring their own hobby or interest to a group.

All volunteers are required to undertake an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, as well as supply two satisfactory references.  For further information on CRB checks, please use the link below to visit the government's CRB website: Direct.gov/CRB
