In the last few weeks we have seen a huge change to the way that we work, live and socialize as the result of necessary measures introduced to combat COVID-19.  These measures have made traditional fundraising a bit more difficult, however, in times like this your support is needed more than ever, it just means that we need to get creative and look at alternative ways to raise money!

Below are a just a few fundraising ideas that you could do from your home, so why not make the most of this time at home, turn your hobbies into fundraising opportunities and raise money for a good cause!

We have recently set up an appeal – www.justgiving.com/campaign/HMNCovid-19 to help us reach all the Hertfordshire residents that need our support through this difficult period and would love your help to reach our £5,000 target!

1. Live streaming – during this period many people are turning to social media as a way to keep in touch with friends and family. Why not use the internet to stream live activities for others to enjoy and get involved with from the comfort of their own home! It could be anything from cooking to gaming, dance classes to art lessons.  Set up your event, invite friends and family (let us know and we will promote on our social media pages) and ask for a donation towards Hertfordshire Mind Network.

2. Virtual walks/runs – due to the restrictions a number of running events are now going virtual! The London Landmark Half Marathon is offering anyone (you don’t need to have already registered) an exclusive medal if they complete a solo, virtual run, around your local landmarks between now and Sunday 3rd May whilst raising money for charity. Your local landmarks could be anything from your local church, castle, park, statue or even post-box. Further details can be found at www.llhm.co.uk/local-landmarks.

3. Sponsored events – why not get friends and family to sponsor you doing laps of your balcony/garden/hallway, growing a beard, or a bookathon! If you have children get them involved too – set them a daily challenge – it could be cooking, cleaning or making something creative and sponsor them for it.

4. Fancy dress day – Working from home? Why not have a fancy dress day for you and your colleagues – not only could you raise some money for a good cause but would also give everyone a good giggle on the team video call!

5. Make a donation - If you are saving money on your daily commute to work, your regular coffee shop visits or having your hair done then why not consider donating some of it to a good cause? If you can’t go out to celebrate your birthday or your family or friends can’t come over to join you on your day, why not invite them to make a donation in your name to Hertfordshire Mind Network?

6. Go on a coin hunt – take a look down the back of the sofa, in coat pockets and anywhere else those coins can hide – round up what you find to the nearest pound and then donate!

If you would like any further information or assistance with setting these up then please contact our Community Fundraising Manager at [email protected] or call 07702 894231.

Donations can be made here or alternatively donate on our JustGiving page - www.justgiving.com/campaign/HMNCovid-19

    Thank you!
