About the service

The project will provide early access to help for people who are experiencing mental ill health and for those who are experiencing wellbeing needs in relation to the ongoing challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic presents.

The service will help people to combat loneliness and isolation by connecting with each other, sharing their experiences and building sustainable and empowering support networks.

This service consists of:

  • Peer Support Groups
  • Wellbeing Courses

The project can be accessed by any adult living in Hertfordshire who is experiencing mental ill health.

Peer Support Groups and Wellbeing Courses will be provided virtually

How can we help

Peer Support Groups

We will provide weekly Peer Support Groups. All groups will be facilitated by our Peer Support Coordinator and a Group Facilitator.

The weekly Peer Support Groups will run as follows:

Tuesday: 1pm - 3pm

Wednesday: 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Thursday: 11am- 1pm

The Peer Support Groups will have a topic based on the needs identified by participants, but we envisage that we will discuss areas such as wellbeing, self-care, resilience, local community services and resource, coping strategies, practical support etc.

The groups will provide you with a safe space to share your feelings and experiences, and build your skills, confidence and self-esteem. The group will also enable you to make connections and build social networks with other in your local community.  

We can also provide a short number of one-to-one peer support sessions for anyone who would benefit from discussing any longer term needs. This will involve supporting individuals to access other elements of our wider service provision, and/ or signposting to external organisations and community resources.

Wellbeing Courses

Each week we will also provide a two-hour Wellbeing course, enabling you to learn new skills, build resilience, confidence and enable you to improve your health and wellbeing.

The sessions will be facilitated by facilitated by our Peer Support Coordinator and a Group Facilitator.

The Wellbeing Course will run each week:

Monday: 5.30pm - 7.30pm

We will cover the following topics on a rolling basis:

  • Introduction to Wellbeing
  • Coronavirus and Your Wellbeing
  • Emotional Resilience
  • Building Positive Relationships
  • Building Self-Esteem
  • Overcoming Anxiety and Fear
  • Learning to accept change and uncertainty

Future course content will be adjusted based on participant feedback and emerging needs and will be agreed by the group.

We can also help you to access other services, groups and activities that Hertfordshire Mind Network offers.

How to access the service

Herts Peer Support Network is open access, meaning there is no need to have an initial appointment. You can also attend while waiting for one of our other services or after exiting one of our one-to-one services.

If you are not currently a client all you need to do is complete a short Online Enrolment Form.

We will provide you with a session link and joining details. You will need a link for each session that you attend.

Please note, we will only be able to send joining instructions and links to you during office hours.
