Latest News Hertfordshire Mind Network 50th Anniversary Fundraising Appeal In the beginning... Hertfordshire Mind Network started in 1970 by a Hemel Hempstead based primary school head teacher with a view to helping local people and their families as they believed day services for people with mental ill-health in the area were not so much scarce as non-existent. A weekly support group commenced which proved popular and 30 people attended every week. Where we are now: Fast forward 50 years and Hertfordshire Mind Network now has 7 Wellbeing Centres across the county providing a diverse range of services and support to their clients. In 2019, we supported over 5,500 people in Hertfordshire through Counselling, Peer Support, Crisis Services, Young Peoples services and more. Caroline McGoohan, Community Fundraising Manager at Hertfordshire Mind Network says: “We are excited to be celebrating our 50th anniversary this year, however, in this current financial climate our funding is being put under enormous pressure at a time when we are seeing increased demand for our services due to the impact of COVID-19 on mental health. This fundraising appeal will help us continue to ensure everyone in Hertfordshire experiencing mental ill-health will get the support and respect they deserve.” How we spend donations As a local, independent charity every pound will go to support Hertfordshire residents with their mental health. £5 could pay for: refreshments for one of our Crisis Cafés £25 could pay for: a well-stocked food cupboard for people using our Nightlight Service £50 could pay for two peer support sessions £60 could pay for: a mental health awareness assembly at a local school £100 could pay for: 5 counselling sessions for someone experiencing financial hardship £500 5 targeted workshops for young people in secondary schools. These would reach up to 75 young people. How you can get involved: If you would like to get involved then please get in touch.
