About NHS Talking Therapies – Counselling

Hertfordshire Mind Network is one of the approved providers of NHS Talking Therapies Counselling for Depression, for people aged 16 and over registered with a GP in Hertfordshire.

This free service offers 8 sessions of one-to-one counselling providing a safe, confidential, consistent space to reflect and explore your feelings with a trained counsellor.  The sessions are for 50 minutes and you will need to be able to commit to the same day and time every week.

‘Counselling aims to help people get in touch with the feelings underlining their depression, to express these, make sense of them and develop new ways of looking at ourselves and the world around us. This is achieved by a counsellor focusing on how you feel and understanding your situation from your point of view. The counsellor is not there to tell you what to do but to help you to explore with you what to talk about in a thoughtful and understanding manner’ Talking therapies | HPFT IAPT Services (hpft-iapt.nhs.uk)
