Training & Courses
Please see below for a list of FAQs about our Mental Health training and courses.
Why is mental health training important for my workplace, club or community?
It is estimated that every £1 spent on mental health support, employers stand to receive £5 in return. Mental health training is not just tolkenistic and important for financial gain. It ensures your team understands the impact of mental health issues and stigma and develops their knowledge on where to find support. This is paramount for developing a culture which embraces mental health and in turn, creating a happier and healthier workforce.
I’m not sure what my organisation’s training needs are or which courses would be best for them, can you help?
Of course, we understand it can be a difficult task to identify which training courses would best suit the needs or your team or organisation. We are experienced in helping you discover which options would best suit your needs. We can also arrange to construct a short survey for you to share with your team.
I can’t find a topic I want to receive training on through your website, do you offer training on any topics not listed on your website?
Of course, we do not want to overwhelm readers by listing every topic we deliver on our website. Currently, we write and deliver training for over 50 individual mental-health related topics. Also, every training we write is bespoke and we can mix various topics to meet your organisational and learning needs. If you would like to ask about any of these topics, please do not hesitate to email us.
How much do training and courses cost?
Our training and courses costs vary from session to session. Some courses are fully-funded and there is also potential to receive discounts on block-booking and when choosing us as charity partner.
For any requests of our standard training and workshops, please register your interest and we will provide you with a competitive individual quote to match your requirements.
Our Step2Skills Courses cost a total of £10.
Do I get a certificate upon completion of the training or workshop?
Upon completion of our training courses, attendees will receive a digital pack containing all of the handouts, resources and a downloaded certificate of completion. For any training in person, we can arrange for an attendee pack to be created containing all of the training content and a printed certificate for a small fee.
What platforms do you use for online training?
Currently, the majority of our online sessions are delivering via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Demio or Google Meet. We are always keen to learn and endeavour to deliver training on any platform not listed above.
Step2Skills Courses
Please see below for a list of FAQs about our Step2Skills courses.
Who are the courses for?
The courses are intended for anyone over 19 year’s old living in Hertfordshire
Do the courses have to be done as a group?
Yes. All of our courses are run in a group setting to reach as many people as possible. Our tutors are trained and experienced in maintaining a safe and comfortable learning environment.
How much do the courses cost?
There is a £10 admin fee for enrolling onto a course. If you have any issues paying this, please get in touch with a member of staff and we can discuss payment options.
How are the courses structured?
Each course will have between 6-10 learners for face to face courses and up to 15 learners in our online courses, and will run between 4-6 weeks, supported by one of our highly skilled and trained tutors and a Herts Mind Network volunteer, with each session lasting around 2-3 hours.
How do the courses work online?
As part of Herts Mind Networks response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have opted to run our courses remotely via a website called Demio. After successfully booking onto a course we will send you an email link which allows you to access the session.
Do I need to have a camera or microphone to join?
Demio does not require you to have a camera or a microphone to join in the learning.; by using a text chat system our learners can type a message to either the entire group or privately to the tutor.
Learners who need or want to join through video or voice chat are able to do so however this is only available on computers or laptops with a camera and/or microphone installed. It is entirely up to our learners to engage in a way that they feel most comfortable with.
Will there be a break during the sessions?
Yes. We schedule in a 15 minute break at the mid-point of each session, however we know that everyone has different needs and our tutors are happy to accommodate by adding in smaller comfort breaks after discussing with the group.
I have additional needs to access a course, can I still enrol?
We will do all we can to support with any additional needs our learners may have and will always discuss what support we can offer with you before a course starts.
The question I want to ask is not listed here, who can I contact?
