Hertfordshire Mind Network strives to ensure that its services are accessible to people with disabilities. We have invested a significant amount of resources to help ensure that our website is made easier to use and more accessible for people with disabilities, with the strong belief that website accessibility assists all users and that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort and independence.

We are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability.

Accessibility on www.hertsmindnetwork.org

www.hertsmindnetwork.org makes UserWay’s Web Accessibility Widget available which is powered by a dedicated accessibility server. The software allows us to improve its compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

AbilityNet also has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Enabling the Accessibility Menu

The www.hertsmindnetwork.org accessibility menu can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears on the corner of the page. After triggering the accessibility menu, please wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.

The UserWay widget enables visitors to make changes to the way in which the website looks to make it more accessible for individual viewers.

UserWay will help you to change settings on the website as follows:

  • Screen reader
  • Contrast
  • Highlight links
  • Bigger text
  • Text spacing and text alignment, making pages easier to read.
  • Pause animations
  • Dyslexia friendly
  • Cursor size, reading mask, reading guides
  • Line height can be adjusted to make the website easier to read

Meaningful ALT attribute on images

Some images on this site contain additional ‘alternate’ text that is stored with the image. This allows users who otherwise wouldn’t be able to see the image access to the stored information. Although this can help users of assistive technology (e.g. Screen-readers), this also applies to visitors who disable images because of a slow internet connection.

Any image that is considered purely decorative will have a blank alternate text. This reduces the amount of unnecessary content on the page.

Disclaimer

Hertfordshire Mind Network continues its efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of its site and services in the belief that it is our collective moral obligation to allow seamless, accessible and unhindered access to our information and services.

Despite our efforts to make all pages and content on www.hertsmindnetwork.org fully accessible, some content may not have yet been fully adapted to the strictest accessibility standards. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.

We are continually seeking out solutions that will bring all areas of the site up to the same level of overall web accessibility.
