Counselling

Our counselling service is now open for new referrals. All counselling will be provided via telephone, Skype and Zoom.

Please complete the Counselling Referral Form below or get in touch with us on 02037 273600 if you would like to talk with one of the team.

About the Counselling Service

Our respected "Let's Talk Counselling" service is available at all our Wellbeing Centres. Our  counselling  team  consists  of  experienced  and  trained  counsellors  who  use  a  client-centred  based  approach.  We  provide  a  supportive and confidential service and offer up to 10 counselling sessions.

You can refer yourself, or be referred by your GP or mental health specialist, a family member or a friend.  Many employers are very supportive of Counselling and you may wish to approach them to find out if they would be willing to help with the cost.

Counselling Fees

Our fees consist of an initial charge for a counselling assessment, and then a charge for each of your counselling appointments.

  • Counselling assessment incurs a £40 charge per session with a £20* charge for people who are on benefits (including tax credits).
  • Counselling appointments incur a £40 charge per session with a £20* per session charge for people who are on benefits (including tax credits). This will be discussed with you at your counselling assessment.

*in some circumstances we may be able to offer further reduced rates – please contact the Counselling Team to discuss.

What counselling involves

A counsellor is not there to tell you what to do - instead they will encourage you to talk about what’s bothering you and help you to explore your feelings. The counsellor will help you to understand yourself as a person, how you deal with situations in your life and identify your specific ways of thinking. This will enable you to have a better understanding around your issues and to be aware of what choices you have. Having a different perspective on issues, can make them become more manageable. Your counsellor is there to support and encourage you through this process in a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental way.

Our confidential support includes, but is not limited, to the following areas:

  • Anxiety and panic
  • Managing depression
  • Coping with stress
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Relationship issues
  • Emotional issues

How to contact us

To access the service you need to be 18 or over and living in Hertfordshire.

When you decide you would like to have counselling with us, you can self refer, or be referred by your GP or mental health specialist. We will then book a counselling assessment with you to discuss your needs and take an overview of your issues.

Please contact us on 02037 273600 to find out more about the service or refer yourself.
